Sinn Féin, DUP take hit in Stormont elections

People Before Profit recorded landmark results in west Belfast and Derry, as gains went to minorities and the Left

Maurice Morrow and DUP leader Arlene Foster were returned as MLAs for Fermanagh and South Tyrone.

There were gains for minority and left-wing parties in elections for the Stormont Assembly this weekend, with Sinn Féin failing to increase representation despite projected seat losses suffered by its traditional rival, the Democratic Unionist Party.

Sinn Féin, which had 29 seats going into the election, had secured 20 seats at time of going to press while the DUP’s Stormont contingent was set to be reduced. Yesterday afternoon it had secured 35 seats,...
