The former justice minister Alan Shatter has said claims that Enda Kenny told Facebook he would lobby other EU countries on its behalf were “something of a mystery” to him.

Shatter was responding to reports last week that, when taoiseach, Kenny told Facebook he would use Ireland’s EU presidency to lobby other member states over new data protection laws. Kenny has not commented publicly on the claims.
