Shatter berates ‘blundering rhino’ Coveney over tweets about Israel

The former justice minister Alan Shatter criticised two tweets by Coveney last Monday, including one in which the Minister for Foreign Affairs accused the US ambassador to Israel, David M Friedman, of making 'another unhelpful statement'

Tánaiste Simon Coveney has been accused by a former cabinet colleague of “blundering around like a rhino in an antique store” in his response to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The former justice minister Alan Shatter criticised two tweets by Coveney last Monday, including one in which the Minister for Foreign Affairs accused the US ambassador to Israel, David M Friedman, of making “another unhelpful statement”. Coveney later deleted this tweet.
