SF lays down marker on new Garda chief

At the party’s pre-Dáil away day in Cavan, Mary Lou McDonald said Drew Harris must answer the 'well-founded and well-grounded' concerns of victims and survivors who have objected to his appointment

So far the party has given a lukewarm response to the appointment of the ex-PSNI deputy chief constable as commissioner of An Garda Síochána. This was no more evident than yesterday at the party’s pre-Dáil away day in Cavan, where Mary Lou McDonald said Harris must answer the “well-founded and well-grounded” concerns of victims and survivors who have objected to his appointment.
