Pádraig Ó Céidigh, the former Aer Arann boss and senator who helped to broker a deal on water charges, has hinted at a possible run for the presidency.

The independent senator, who chaired meetings of the Oireachtas committee on the future of water charges, said the experience had taught him that the Irish political system was badly in need of reform.
