Donald Trump’s dealings with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky have pushed Democrats to redouble their impeachment efforts. But does the US leader have anything to worry about or could this debacle actually play out in his favour?

Apart from the fact that each is president of his country, Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky would appear to have nothing in common. The former is a 73-year-old self-proclaimed billionaire and one-time New York property developer with an aggressive personality, a liking for dictators and a penchant for rallying his supporters through an unerring ability to rub his enemies up the wrong way.
