Fine Gael has warned independent ministers they will not be allowed another free vote when a bill on abortion comes before the Dáil in October.

Independent Alliance Ministers of state Finian McGrath and John Halligan want a free vote on a bill calling for a referendum to repeal the Eighth Amendment, which enshrines the equal right to life of the mother and unborn in the Constitution.
