The new Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has signalled a shift in the party’s economic policy, from a focus on austerity to “prosperity”.

McDonald was elected unopposed as party president yesterday at the RDS in Dublin, marking the end of Gerry Adams’s 34 years in charge.
