Limerick is on the verge of electing its first ever Muslim councillor, in a significant boost for the integration of the “new Irish”.

First-time Fianna Fáil candidate Abdul Kalam Azad Talukder looks on track to take a seat in Limerick City West. A native of Bangladesh Talukder said he joined Fianna Fáil after he came to Ireland 19 years ago, because they “are the only political party who listened to migrant issues”....
