Blame for the bailout

The pages of coverage of the bank guarantee in your newspaper of June 14 are a futile exercise in blaming individuals who were involved that night for all the austerity that occurred.

The decisions made that night did not bankrupt the country.

What bankrupted the country and cumulatively contributed to its needing a bailout were the decisions made by a small number of this country’s most powerful citizens during the decade leading up to the night...
