Under the rules introduced in Budget 2015, craft breweries have been able to avail of an expansion of the limit for excise relief from 20 hectolitres to 30 hectolitres

Last year’s budget brought good news for Ireland’s growing craft brewing sector, with an extension of the qualifying limit for excise duty relief for microbreweries. Budget 2015 saw Minister for Finance Michael Noonan praise microbreweries as “a success story in recent years”.

He pointed to expanded market share, employment growth and export potential.
