Mary Lou McDonald was confirmed as president-elect of Sinn Féin at a party meeting in Belfast yesterday.

The Dublin Central TD and current Sinn Féin deputy leader was confirmed as the sole nominee to replace Gerry Adams, who is standing down as party president after 35 years.
