The final tally was in and the nerves were on show. The Fine Gael TD’s battle royale to hold his seat in the bear pit of Cork South Central meant a long night ahead. His opponent for the final seat, Sinn Féin newcomer Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire, appeared to be leading by a margin of roughly 600 votes.
