Comment: The numbers game on abortion

The special Oireachtas committee will now consider the Citizens Assembly recommendations - and that means party politics come back into the picture

There are “Doctors for Life” and “Doctors for Choice”. So it is not just the politicians who are divided about the issue of abortion.

But it will now be a matter for the politicians on the special Oireachtas committee to come up with an agreed proposal on what changes should be made to the current regime here.

The Citizen’s Assembly has indeed provided a roadmap by voting in favour of changing...
