Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar has warned Fine Gael members to be ready for an election this year.

Varadkar made the remarks to around 200 party members in Tipperary last Monday night, citing the snap election in the North as evidence of how quickly events can turn.

Varadkar was speaking prior to Taoiseach Enda Kenny telling CNBC in Davos last week that there is no chance of an election this year.
