According to the National Cancer Registry, some 33,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed each year in Ireland with approximately 90 people a day getting the heartbreaking news that they have cancer.
Cancer remains the second most common cause of death in Ireland. Deaths from cancer averaged about 8,800 deaths per year during 2010-2012, representing about 30 per cent of all deaths in that period.
