Today is, of course, Bloomsday, when Dublin becomes a Joycean theme park celebrating Leopold Bloom and Stephen Daedalus’s perambulations across Dublin on June 16, 1904.
The day and the book starts with James Joyce’s Buck Mulligan, carrying out his ablutions overlooking the snot-green sea at Sandycove, surveying Dublin Bay and buying the book’s first drink: milk. He then prepares himself for the day’s trials with real tea: strong tea.
