I’m halfway through a tour of the kitchens with Loughlin Druhan, the manor’s director of culinary, when we arrive at the area where the guests’ fruit baskets are put together. The pieces of fruit look suspiciously shiny, and Druhan confirms why: each one is hand-polished before it ever makes it to a bedroom.
