At 2.49pm on April 15, 2013,0 two bombs exploded as streams of runners crossed the finishing line of the Boston Marathon. The attack killed three people and seriously injured 264, including 16 who lost limbs.

The bombs were planted by brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. In the ensuing manhunt, Tamerlan was killed and Dzhokhar was captured. Last May, Dzhokhar was sentenced to death.
