The Croatian island of Hvar is among the most beautiful in the Adriatic sea. Its sparkling port, below a 16th-century Venetian-era hilltop castle, is where Michael Smurfit was moored last Wednesday.

He is on board a yacht hired to bring him and his family to Corfu, the Greek island in the Ionian Sea, to celebrate his 80th birthday today.
