So the attached picture in this email is of an area known as the diamond, no longer there, since built over, just off Mountjoy Square (I think) although I will double check the location. The photo highlights the tradition of soccer in the area, witness the huge crowds here to watch a match between local players from two neighbouring streets - check out the fans in the background watching the game from rooftops. This wasn't a structured, official game, by the looks of it, it was not even 11-a-side but the tradition in those years was to have challenge games between teams from different streets in the area. It appears to be an eight a side match.
