Claudia Boyle is to play Mabel in a Mike Leigh production of the Pirates of Penzance, which will be broadcast to cinemas in Britain and Ireland on May 19

The English National Opera’s production in cinematic HD, will be broadcast live on May 19 in cinemas across Britain and Ireland, and selected cinemas worldwide.

Leigh, one of Britain’s premier film directors, is responsible for a series of critically acclaimed films, his most recent being Mr Turner, a biopic of the English artist JMW Turner, which won actor Timothy Spall a best actor award at the Cannes film festival last year.
