A quiet, contemplative affair, Nora Webster is in many senses a natural companion piece to Brooklyn, Toibin’s 2009, Booker-nominated novel which has recently made into a film starring Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson. Nora Webster tells the story of the widow Nora, who is struggling to cope with her four children in 1960s Wexford, after the death of her husband Maurice, a schoolteacher.
