New names for top jobs in Irish music

Wexford Festival Opera has announced the successor to its artistic director David Agler, who ends his influential 13-year tenure after this year’s festival, and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra has named a new chief conductor

Two major appointments that will have a telling effect on the Irish music scene in the coming years have just been made.

Wexford Festival Opera has announced the successor to its artistic director David Agler, who ends his influential 13-year tenure after this year’s festival. Meanwhile, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra has named a new chief conductor, the position being vacant since Alan Buribayev departed two seasons ago.
