On a crisp, bright, numbingly cold February morning outside the village of Moone in Co Kildare, 68-year-old racehorse trainer Jessica Harrington is astride the eight-year-old Rock the World.

Harrington is thundering up the steep incline of the gallops at Commonstown farm, shouting encouragement to television presenter Tracy Piggott, who is riding alongside her.
