Madeleine L’Engle’s coming-of-age science-fiction A Wrinkle In Time is apparently a book beloved of teenage readers since its publication in 1962 but, honestly, I’d never heard of it, let alone read it. Coming in blind to an adaptation like Ava DuVernay’s has the upside of the world she creates feeling fresh and new, and the downside of wondering what it is that you’re missing.
