The Aston Martin V12 Vantage S is a simple tool, but highly effective. Originally launched in 2005 in V8 form, it’d be another four years before Aston squeezed a 6.0-litre V12 under the hastily punctured bonnet of the Vantage model. It was always good, but that V12 made it bad, brilliantly so.

It was epic enough to ignore the familiar shortcomings: unreadable instruments and infotainment that’d be hilarious if it wasn’t so damn frustrating...
