Exquisite style is all very well, but to really shake things up takes fashion. David Bowie was a chameleon of exciting, exhilarating fashion. He was fashion as art, fashion as culture and, of course, fashion as clothes. He was taste, style, vision, artistry, sophistication and cheekbones.

I am such a fan of Bowie. I thought he was superb. For me, the first thing that comes to mind isn’t the music but his defiance of stereotype....
