Lismore Castle has old-style Hollywood good looks. It’s exactly the sort of place you would have expected Errol Flynn to seriously buckle his swash in pursuit of a fair maiden.

Flynn never did turn up in the beautiful heritage hilltop town in Co Waterford, but occasionally Fred Astaire used to arrive for a quiet vacation, only to be surrounded by a whooping war-party of reporters. They besieged the place for weeks in pursuit of a decent shot (of film, that is).
