Gioachino Rossini’s opera La Cenerentola has always been held in high regard by coloratura lovers, even in this country, where productions have been less than frequent down the years.

A quick check reveals only a performance in Wexford in 1956 – the first airing there of the music of Gioachino the Great – and a single staging in the Gaiety during the grand old days of the Dublin Grand Opera Society.
