Carousel is the lesser-known creation of collaborative duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II – the team behind Oklahoma, The Sound of Music and The King and I.

Set in a tight-knit fishing village on the coast of Maine, the 1943 musical tells the story of the ill-fated love affair between the young and beautiful Julie Jordan (Gillene Butterfield) and Billy Bigelow (Keith Higham), a tough talking, macho, carousel barker.
