Pronounced ‘elle vie’, EL VY is a collaboration between longtime friends Matt Berninger (The National) and Brent Knopf (Ramona Falls). While the lyrics tread the same dark and occasionally humorous waters as Berninger’s band, Knopf adds some funky basslines to proceedings, notably on the title track and the playful I’m the Man To Be; think Tom Waits remixed by Prince.
