French designer Sophie Rieu, based in Co Wicklow, sources all her materials locally and uses traditional methods to produce garments of the highest quality, writes Ruth O’Connor
Designer Sophie Rieu might be celebrating the tenth anniversary of her Unicorn brand by entering the digital age, but it’s traditional values that truly inform her craft.
“It’s the softest of the soft – really beautiful yarn; it’s like cashmere and the animals are in no way harmed in the process,” says Rieu of the product of her collaboration with Irish knitwear designer Edmund McNulty.
