What questions should I avoid as an interviewer?
My company is about to embark on a recruitment drive and I am concerned about questioning prospective employees. Is there anything I should avoid?
Interviews can be tricky, as most employers not only want to know a prospective candidate’s technical ability, but also whether he or she is a good fit for the organisation. Therefore, interviewers need to be careful about how they seek information from candidates to minimise the risk of a legal challenge.
Specifically, the Employment Equality Acts 1998-2015 prevent discrimination on any of the nine equality grounds at recruitment and interview stage.
