Wetherspoon calls time on champagne over Brexit

Champagne is to be replaced with sparkling wines from Britain and Australia, while the chain will serve wheat beers from Britain and the US

British pub chain JD Wetherspoon has announced a shift from EU drink products – including champagne from France and German wheat beers – in the run-up to Brexit.

A company statement said Wetherspoon would offer more drinks from British and non-EU producers and brewers across its 880 pubs from Monday July 9.

Champagne is to be replaced with sparkling wines from Britain and Australia, while the chain will serve wheat beers from Britain and the US.
