Watchdog escalates probe of Irish Examiner takeover

If successful, the Irish Times will acquire a number of Landmark Media’s assets including the Irish Examiner

The competition regulator has requested more information on the proposed takeover of the Irish Examiner by the Irish Times.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is in the first phase of investigating the takeover, which is subject to media merger legislation.
