For years, the three premium German car manufacturers, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz have slugged it out with each other for supremacy. Sure, there are other luxury marques, such as Jaguar, Land Rover and Lexus, but in terms of sales volume and mass market penetration, nobody can touch the Germans. I’d suggest that the biggest threat to that hegemony is likely to come from Sweden, in the shape of a resurgent Volvo.
