Value of state’s €1 million Digicel bond plummets

The state invested almost $1 million in the Denis O’Brien-owned Caribbean mobile phone company Digicel, The Sunday Business Post can reveal.

The Irish Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF), which is part of the National Treasury Management Agency, last year invested in bonds sold by Digicel. The fund bought a nominal $970,000 of a Digicel bond that is due to be repaid in 2021. The bond carries an annual interest rate of 6 per cent. The...
