Just how close Irish racing came to losing one of its jockeys was revealed in an article in the industry’s main newspaper last week.

County Limerick rider Mark Enright had revealed a battle with depression to the Racing Post early in 2015. He had suppressed the reason for his absence from the track by citing an appendix issue, yet made front-page news in the sport’s daily publication by breaking his silence.
