Smurfit is a father of seven. His son, Dermot Junior, is chief executive of GameAccount Network, a software company specialising in the gambling trade that is growing rapidly.
Dermot Smurfit has garnered plenty of titles over the years, but his latest is almost certainly the most striking. The youngest son of paper and packing entrepreneur Jefferson Smurfit is now nothing less than Knight, First Class of the Order of the Lion.
Late last year, with little fanfare back home, Smurfit was presented with the honour by order of the president of Finland for services to business over the past few years. Not bad...
