When Frank Hession opened a hair salon on Dorset Street in Dublin 40 years ago, he didn’t have much competition. “Back then there were very few top hairdressers,” said Paul Hession, who now runs the business his father established.

“Dad was working in Elizabeth Arden in London, and he got a lot of experience there that he brought back to Ireland. And then it just exploded, and hairdressing suddenly became very slick.”...
