The flood of shoppers over the border is continuing apace this festive season

‘Don’t judge me!”

It was early November and Tony Harris, from Donabate in north Co Dublin, was standing at a till in a Sainsbury’s in Newry – with a shopping trolley piled high with bottles of wine and other alcoholic drinks.

He was joking with his fellow shoppers about buying such a large volume of booze in a single shopping trip.
