Rent pressure zones clearly work. If they didn’t, they would not be generating so much resentment and resistance from landlords and developers.

The latter group includes Bartra Capital which, as this newspaper reported last week, has claimed that its 208-unit co-living building in Dún Laoghaire should not be subject to tenancy regulations, including rent caps.

The courts or the Oireachtas will end up sorting out this row. In the meantime, rents...
