This Wednesday will mark the tenth anniversary of the Twitter hashtag, and it is one trend that Ireland has taken fully on board.

On social media, the hashtag turns any word or group of words that directly follow it into a searchable link. It was introduced on Twitter in 2007, but now is also widely used across other platforms.
