The drinks industry must be the only one which champions statistics that show consumption of its products is falling.

Patricia Callan, director of the Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland (ABFI), the trade association that represents brewers, distillers, brand owners and distributors in Ireland, said policies and campaigns informing the public on alcohol consumption were working.
