Bombardier has completed a €4.8 million deal with Irish-owned solar firm Saliis to build the island’s first roof-top solar installation.

Completed over ten weeks, the 3.6 megawatt system has 14,000 solar PV panels spanning 50,000 square metres on the roof of Bombardier’s wing facility on Airport Road West in Belfast.

Saliis Renewables’ managing director Michael Burke said that, at its peak, the project had 50 people working 18 metres above ground.
