Smurfit Kappa says prospects better as an independent company

Packaging giant Smurfit Kappa saw its shares rise last week after Davy upgraded its earnings forecasts for the Irish company, as well as for other companies in the sector.

“The European packaging sector has not experienced such a confluence of positive factors for some time. Improving domestic and export demand, limited new capacity (for now), falling (US) imports and rising raw material costs combined to provide a very positive backdrop for corrugated and containerboard pricing.”...
