Smurfit suitor sees its rating slashed after takeover bid

Smurfit Kappa’s suitor International Paper has seen its rating slashed by one analyst from a major international bank, partly because of the price it is willing to offer for the Irish box maker.

Meanwhile, other analysts have suggested that the rival paper and cardboard company Mondi is a potential counterbidder for the Irish firm.
