Service sector still growing, but Brexit knocks confidence
Though the sector continued to grow strongly in March, the pace of growth has slowed in the early months of 2019, while confidence has taken a hit from Brexit uncertainty
An increase in new orders was mainly responsible for the rise in activity, but growth was slower than in February and the rate of expansion in new export business was the weakest for more than two years.
The business confidence part of the survey fell to its lowest level since 2012
There was, however, an acceleration in employment growth, as firms hired more staff to cope with higher demand from customers.
