Medtech start-up Loci Orthopaedics closed a €2.75 million seed funding round ahead of plans to bring to the market a new joint implant to treat arthritis.

The Galway company said it would use the funding to advance product development in preparation for clinical trials and regulatory approval in the US and EU.

Loci is developing the implant to treat thumb base joint arthritis, a condition that can cause significant functional impairment of the hand.
